In a flash, nature’s night lights add sparkle to summer nights

Every summer, as the Earth enters a region of space containing high concentrations of solar debris, nighttime skywatchers are rewarded with a wonderful light display: the Perseid meteor shower. But you don’t have to be an astronomer to see summer light shows produced by nature. Some animals produce light from within their bodies.
